These internal blockers operate beneath the surface, shaping how you respond to challenges, make decisions, and interact with others. By identifying and weakening them, you can reclaim control over your mindset, shift from self-sabotage to self-mastery, and unlock your full potential.
The Judge is the universal Saboteur that afflicts everyone. It is the one that beats you up repeatedly over mistakes or shortcomings, warns you obsessively about future risks, wakes you up in the middle of the night worrying, gets you fixated on what is wrong with others or your life, etc. Your Judge activates your other Saboteurs, causes much of your stress and unhappiness, reduces your effectiveness, and harms your relationships.
While the Judge is the master Saboteur that fuels self-criticism, stress, and negativity, it rarely works alone. It recruits a set of Accomplice Saboteurs—distinct mental patterns that amplify fear, doubt, procrastination, control, and other self-limiting behaviors. I know firsthand how overwhelming life’s transitions can be. I’ve walked through them myself—navigating divorce, an unexpected career downsizing, a second marriage, a complete career reinvention, and becoming an empty nester. Through each season of change, I faced moments of doubt, uncertainty, and the question: “What’s next for me?”
But I’ll be honest—I didn’t always handle these transitions the right way. For years, I operated on autopilot, reacting out of fear and self-doubt rather than with intention. My Judge and accomplice Saboteurs controlled my thinking—whispering that I wasn’t good enough, that I had failed, that I should be further along. They showed up in my career, well-being, and relationships, keeping me stuck in patterns of overthinking, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. Instead of embracing change with confidence, I let stress, anxiety, and self-criticism dictate my path.
